Anna I. Albanese

MANCHESTER - Anna I. Albanese, 94, died Jan. 28, 2013, at Elliott Hospital in Manchester.

She was born in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of the late Philip and Teresa (Camerota) Bongiorni and graduated from Springfield Technical High School and was employed at Forbes & Wallace until it closed.

Anna was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was a member of the Holy Family League of Christy and St. Ann's Guild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy, in 1985; sisters Mary Gareffa and Josephine Hapcook; her brothers, Frank and Vincent Bongiorni; and a granddaughter, Rosalie Albanese.

Anna is survived by her children, Patricia Albanese of Manchester and Ralph Albanese and his wife, Sherrill, of Lake Mary, Fla.; and her sister, Gloria Arcand of Agawam. She also leaves four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her children would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Manor at Birch Hill Terrace, where Anna resided, for their kindness, care and sense of humor, which they expressed every day.

services: A calling hour for family and friends will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow, Mass. Funeral services will follow at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home. A Liturgy of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield, Mass. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
