C. Diehl Ott

Bedford - C. Diehl Ott, 85, died April 23, 2014.He was born in Rochester, N.Y., July 12, 1928, the son of Carl Diehl and Harriet (Sauer) Ott.Diehl was stationed in England while serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, graduating in 1952 from the University of Rochester with a B.S. in physics.Diehl was joined in marriage with Marion "Lou" Hays on Nov. 29, 1952.Known as "Mr. Kodak," Diehl enjoyed a 47-year career with Eastman Kodak Company, working as a photo finishing sales representative. In retirement, he worked as a Kodak ambassador, traveling with Lou on cruises and to the Olympics. Diehl was very active in Bedford Presbyterian Church, working on the building committee, serving as a deacon, trustee and elder. He was a board member for Camp Wilmot, enjoyed downhill skiing and providing leadership with the Boy Scouts of America.He is survived by four children, Craig Ott and wife Marie of Bow, Karen Neumann and husband Peter of Exton, Pa., Linda Hunt and husband Doug of Cary, N.C., and Amy Walker and husband Martin of Potsdam, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Olson of Richmond, Va. Diehl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lou, on Dec. 15, 2013.


services: Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. A memorial celebration will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford.
