Darwin Skellie

MANCHESTER - Darwin "Toby" Skellie, 65, of Manchester, died Sept. 22, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on April 26, 1948, in Glens Falls, N.Y., the son of the late William J. and Olive Mae (Hermance) Skellie. He was a resident of Manchester since 1981.

Mr. Skellie served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a machinist at Velcro in Manchester.

Toby liked fishing and reading. He enjoyed telling jokes and loved spending time with his family especially the grandchildren.

Family members include his wife, JoAnn (Alden) Skellie of Manchester; four daughters, Jodie Skellie of Manchester, Regina Skoglund and her husband Jason of Manchester, Patricia Chandonnet and her husband TJ of Penacook, and Jamie Abdallah and her husband George of Chester; nine grandchildren, Nathan Skellie and his wife Katelyn, RJ Skellie, Jared Skellie, Zakary Domingue, Amelia Collins, Sadie Chandonnet, Isabella Skoglund, Camden Chandonnet, and Luke Skoglund; five brothers, Bill Skellie and his partner Linda of New York, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Skellie of Florida, Joseph Skellie and his wife Lynn of South Carolina, Mike Skellie and his wife Margaret of North Carolina, and John Skellie of New York; three sisters, Regina Kill of New York, Christine Murray of New York, and Diane Skellie and her partner Tony of West Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings Dorothy Mosher, Ernie Skellie and Jimmy Skellie.

services: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
