PENSACOLA, Fla. - Retired Air Force Maj. Edwin C. MacNeil, 74, of 60 Walnut Ave., North Hampton, N.H., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Baptist Hospital.
He was born in Adams, Mass., on June 13, 1938, a son of the late Graham MacNeil and Helen A. Chapple.
He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force
. After seven years enlisted, he was commissioned in December of 1962, serving during the Vietnam War
and retiring from Pease Air Force Base in July of 1984. He was a former junior warden at Christ Church in Exeter, N.H., and was involved for about 20 years in the resettlement of refugees from all over the world.
Besides his wife, Helen (Gorman) MacNeil, survivors include a son, Louis MacNeil of Laconia, N.H.; two daughters, Leigh Canfield of North Hampton, N.H., and Eileen Villavicencio of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandsons, Isagani and Danilo Villavicencio of Jacksonville, Fla., Jacob Canfield of Charlottesville, Va., and Tucker Canfield of Ruston, La.; and three granddaughters, Mohini Cole of Jacksonville, Fla., and Madison and Audrey Canfield of North Hampton, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one great- granddaughter, baby girl Cole, to be born in July.
services: A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, 43 Pine S., Exeter, N.H., on April 20 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the church's memorial garden.
