Eva V. Cusano

CONCORD - Eva Vonciel Cusano, 93, of Concord, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, March 18, 2013, in her home surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by seven children, Donna Birch and spouse, Philip Gatz, Maryellen Babbitt, Daniel Cusano, Thomas Cusano and spouse, Karen Cusano, Alicia Gatti, John Cusano and spouse, Glenda Carter-Cusano and Laurie Willmott. She also had the joys of 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip D. Cusano, and all 12 of her Rippetoe siblings. Her name "Vonciel" means "from heaven" and it fit her perfectly. Her giving spirit, love for others, quick-witted humor and simple happiness will be remembered by all and cherished in our memories. "Mother, where life begins and love never ends." In addition to gardening she loved doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble with friends and family.

She especially enjoyed listening to the Nevers Band concerts and gardening was her passion. "Old gardeners never die. They just get repotted."

SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Cemetery Street, Concord, (off exit 16, Interstate 93). Friends are welcome.
