MANCHESTER - Sister Gabrielle Gagne, CSC (Sister Mary of St. Raymond of the Savior, CSC), died Feb. 24, 2013.
She was born in Somersworth on Dec. 8, 1932, the youngest of eight children of Hermenegilde and Lillian Gagne.
Sister Gabrielle entered the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1955 and made her final profession in 1962. She earned her B.A. from Notre Dame College, Manchester. She taught in New Bedford, Mass., Groton, Conn., Somersworth and Rochester, and also served as the Coordinator of the Religious Education in Rochester at Holy Rosary Parish for several years. She retired to St. George Manor in Manchester in 2008.
Sister Gabrielle is survived by her sister, Theresa Donnelly of Somersworth. She leaves numerous nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers, Bernard, Edmund and Julien; and her sisters, Rachel, Edna Poisson and Helen Liberi.
services: Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of St. George Manner, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. George Manor Chapel. Burial will be in St. Augustin Cemetery, in Manchester.
