LONDONDERRY - George Plummer "Bud" Hicks, 86, of Londonderry, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
He was born in Manchester on Feb. 7, 1926, a son of Daniel and Hazel (Plummer) Hicks. He was raised and educated in Londonderry and was a 1945 graduate of Pinkerton Academy and a lifelong resident of Londonderry.
Mr. Hicks served his country in World War II
, the Korean and Vietnam war
s as a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the N.H. Air National Guard in 1986 with 42 years of service. George was employed by the Merrimack Farmers Exchange as a retail manager, and retired after 25 years. In his retirement, he worked alongside his brothers at Sunnycrest Farm. He was a longtime member of the Londonderry community, having served as selectman, moderator of the School Board, Planning Board member, and with the volunteer fire department. He was also a member of American Legion Post 27 of Londonderry, the Londonderry Lions Club, the Londonderry Grange and Hoodkroft Seniors Golf.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene Hicks of Londonderry; two daughters, Judith A. Shaver and her husband, Robert, of Londonderry and Penny L. Gould and her husband, Armand, of Londonderry; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Jr. and his wife, Gretchen Hicks; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Hicks, Yvette Hicks and Jeanne Hicks. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Paul, Robert and David Hicks; and two sisters, Shirley Belger and Elizabeth Hicks.
