Manchester - Gerard D. Desruisseaux, 84, of Manchester, died July 7, 2014, at Elliot Hospital.He was born on Aug. 28, 1929, in Manchester, the son of the late Dollard and Bertha (Hebert) Desruisseaux. Gerard was raised and educated in Manchester.He served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War
.Mr. Desruisseaux worked in the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Manchester for 25 years before retiring. He had also worked at Daven and McGraw-Edison in Manchester.He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the League of Sacred Heart.Gerard was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Red Sox. He also loved spending time with his family and truly loved time with his grandchildren.Surviving family members include his wife, Irene V. Desruisseaux of Manchester; two sons, Donald Desruisseaux and his wife, Donna, of New Boston and Gary Desruisseaux and his wife, Carlene, of Auburn; three grandchildren, James Desruisseaux and his wife, Nicole, Kristin McMahon and her husband, John, and Matthew and Alyssa Desruisseaux; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Cameron Desruisseaux; sister Cecile Dupuis of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his three brothers, Roger, Robert and Maurice Desruisseaux.
