AUBURN - Jean F. Belanger, 86, of Auburn, died July 29, 2014, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester after a long illness.He was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 4, 1928, to Jean and Rose (Dubois) Belanger. He lived in Auburn for many years.During the Korean War
he served in the U.S. Army
, earning the rank of sergeant.Jean worked as a carpenter at Key-Loc Mobile Homes and as a painter at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
, the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood and was an usher at St. Peter's Church in Auburn.He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and time spent with his family.He was married to Eugenia (Janton) Belanger, who died in 2008. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Joanne C. Belanger; his twin brother, Joseph, and other siblings, Roland, Cecilia, Rita, Robert and John.The family includes a daughter, Suzanne Belanger of Alaska; a niece, Debra Herod and her husband, Donald, of Manchester; a stepdaughter, Helen Scarpello of Connecticut; a granddaughter, Sara Jean Sternberg; a great-granddaughter, Paetyn An'Jolina Sternberg; a stepson, Alan Montour; a niece, Brenda Guyer; two great nieces, Christen Herod and Melissa Taylor; and three great nephews, Mark Herod, Stephen Herod and Adam Herod.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 567 Manchester Road, Auburn.
