John L. Fournier

MANCHESTER - John L. Fournier, 85, of Manchester, died March 13, 2013, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown after a long illness.

Mr. Fournier was born in Manchester, Feb. 20, 1928, the son of Adelard and Sadie (Therrien) Fournier. He attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of this city.

John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Raphael Church.

He worked at Waumbec Mills as a loom fixer, later a warehouse foreman at Central Paper Products followed by property management at IBM Bedford.

John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was active with the YMCA and VFW 8214. He loved the outdoors, baking, spending time in the summer at Bow Lake in Strafford and spending time in the winter in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was devoted to his granddog, Winston.

Members of his family include his wife, Rose M. (Keeley) Fournier of Bedford, three daughters, Sharen Fournier of Manchester, Maria DiNola of Manchester, Andrea Carpenter of Jackson, Ala.; five grandchildren, Lauren and Christina Fournier, Michael and Faith Courtney, Michael Parham; two brothers, Edgar Fournier of Manchester, Leo Fournier of Stowe, Maine; a sister, Claire Locke of Bow; many nieces and nephews.

services: Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Durning, Bykowski & Young, Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech Street.

The funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to the St. Raphael Food Pantry, 103 Walker St., Manchester, 03102.
