Joseph A. Guimond

AUBURN - Following a courageous battle with cancer, Joseph A. Guimond returned to God and His Angels on Nov. 24, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Lawrence, Mass., to the late (John) Maurice and Marie Rose (Desrocher) Guimond, attending local schools until he entered the Air Force in 1958.

It was while serving in the Air Force that Joseph met and married his wife, Mary Jane (Keith) Guimond in 1960. Throughout their 52 years of marriage, Joseph was a loving and devoted husband and father, grandfather - to his wife, Mary, of Auburn; his two sons, Daniel M. of Auburn, and Joseph Jr. of Manchester; his two daughters, Marie J. (Guimond) King and her husband, Timothy F. King, and Alison R. (Guimond) Stanley and her husband, Thomas J. Stanley Jr., all of Manchester. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, Timothy F. King Jr., who is currently teaching in China, Mary Jane Stanley, Nathan E. and Matthew I. Guimond, all of Manchester.

Joseph was a member of the Manchester Lodge 146 of the Elks since 1987 and proudly served as Exalted Leader from 1991 to 1992.

Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed by the N.H. Department of Corrections from 1978, ultimately being promoted to Major Guimond in 1988, a rank he held until he retired in 1988.

Joseph loved to square-dance and go on cruises with his wife, with a "dream trip" of Grand Voyage, Asia and Australia, being the last one his health would allow.

In addition to the family he created, Joseph is survived by his sister, Anne (Guimond) Marquis of Nashua; and three brothers, Thomas Guimond and wife Lorraine, of St. Petersburg, Fla., John of Pelham, and Raymond and his wife Nancy, of Franklin.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
