Kenwood C. Jones

BEDFORD - Kenwood C. "Ken" Jones, 86, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2013.

He was born in Winchester, Mass., on July 28, 1926, the son of Gerald and Dorothy (Cummings) Jones. Ken was raised in Swanzey and graduated from Keene High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Jay Derby in 1947. He served in the U.S. Air Forces during World War II. Ken worked for the telephone company until 1968 when he opened Ken Jones Ski Mart. He was a Nashua Rotarian, involved with the Nashua Boys and Girls Club, enjoyed tennis, bowling, squash, poker and was an exceptional ski instructor at Mount Sunapee. Ken owned Indian Head ski area in Pepperell, Mass. He became an avid golfer at age 60 and spent half the year at Marco Island, Fla. Ken is survived by a son, Kenwood C. "Woody" Jones Jr., and his wife Linda; a daughter, Alison Jones; two grandsons, Dylan Jones Hall and his fiance' Tarrah Johnston and their son, Presley Jones Hall, and Benjamin Jones Hall; a sister-in-law, Jewell Jones; and a niece, Kandra Jones Chevalier. He was preceded in death by his wife Jay in 1997; a brother, William Lyle Cummings Jones Sr.; and a nephew William "Chip" Lyle Cummings Jones Jr.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester.
