MANCHESTER - Lorraine Alice (Lane) Flanagan, 88, of Manchester, died March 29, 2013, at the Maple Leaf Healthcare Center in Manchester.
Mrs. Flanagan was born in Swampscott, Mass., Sept. 1, 1924, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Desrocher) Lane. She attended local schools and graduated from Lynn English High School and graduated from Curry College in 1946 with an associate's degree.
She worked at the Elliot Hospital for more than 20 years prior to her retirement and was a writer for the Manchester Union Leader under the pen name of "El Sassy Lorraine." Her favorite pastime was watching movies and loved spending time with family and friends.
Lorraine was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Litchfield. She was predeceased by son, Michael Flanagan of Baltimore.
Members of her family include her husband of 65 years: Edward Flanagan of Manchester; a son, Timothy Flanagan of Upton, Mass.; two daughters, Catherine Montville of Manchester, Elaine Swett of Albany; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
services: Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech Street.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Litchfield. Urn burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
