MANCHESTER - Marilyn J. Buote, 87, of Manchester passed away Nov. 29, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on July 5, 1925, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of John and Clella (Bilsing) Daly.
She was raised and educated in Colorado. She met her future husband while a civilian employee at a Navy base in Charleston, S.C. Marilyn served her country during World War II
as a member of the WAVES of the U.S. Navy
. Eventually she was reunited with her true love, Leo Buote and they wed following the war and moved to his hometown of Manchester. She received a bachelor of science degree from New Hampshire College of Accounting and Commerce.
A feminist in a non-feminist world, she was employed as a highly respected office supervisor for MKM Knitting Mills for many years. Later on in retirement, she shared a job with her husband delivering baggage from the Manchester airport. Each trip was an adventure to them and they greatly enjoyed this time together.
Marilyn adored her husband and cherished her entire family. She loved cooking for her family - pies were a specialty and lovingly welcomed each new grandchild and great-grandchild. In her earlier years she enjoyed solving jig saw puzzles and later watching television with her husband. Special times were spent with her daughter, Wendi, strolling through the near-by Pine Grove Cemetery enjoying the beautiful grounds and abundant wildlife. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leo X. Buote of Manchester; two daughters, Wendi Murphy of Merrimack and Judi Malcolm of Manchester; four granddaughters, Jennifer Bilger, Shannon Murphy, Rachel Lavergne and Sarah Bonneville; four great-grandchildren, Cadence Lavergne, Tyler Lavergne, Benjamin Bonneville and Owen Bonneville; a beloved sister Frances Michael of Mount Holly Springs, Pa.; a niece and a nephew.
