MERRIMACK - Mary Ellen (Maher) Palange, 74, of Merrimack passed away on Friday Feb. 8, 2013, ending a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Somerville, Mass., on Nov. 30, 1938, a daughter of James and Mary Ellen (Decoste) Maher and lived much of her life in the Greater Boston and Cape Cod areas. She has lived the last 32 years in Merrimack. Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, gentle woman. She loved the beach at Cape Cod, family dinners, and a good Red Sox/Yankees baseball game. Her artistic nature led her to gardening, music, and books.
She is the widow of Paul A. Palange, who died in 1991.
Members of her family include her children, Susan and Charles Easter of Merrimack, Frank Palange and Mai Zin of Yangon, Burma, and Ellen Joseph and Barry Meehan of Merrimack. She is the beloved grandmother of her grandchildren, Hannah Easter, Rae Easter, Bailey Joseph, Sydney Joseph, and Anaïs Meehan; a sister, Rita Doherty of Burlington, Mass.; and is also godmother to Kevin Doherty, of Burlington, Mass.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, for whom she held a special place, and also survived by a brother, James Maher Jr. of Woburn, Mass.
services: Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, Wednesday Feb. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Last Rest Cemetery, Merrimack.
