MANCHESTER - Normand A. Cayer, 75, of Manchester, died April 10, 2014, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 19, 1938, in Manchester the son of Donat and Ida (Guillemette) Cayer and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He grew up in Manchester and was educated in the local school system.He was a skilled painter and wallpaper hanger, was self-employed and also worked for many years at Claude's Painting Co. He was a lifetime member of the Alpine Club and was a communicant of the Parish of the Transfiguration.Norm loved collecting and was especially proud of his extensive collection of coins and watches. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Doris (Roberge) Cayer in 2003, his granddaughter Michelle Proulx in 2013 and his sister Terry Marburger.Members of his family include his three sons Norman Cayer, Robert Cayer and Ronald Cayer and his wife Doreen, his daughter Diane Bergeron all of Manchester, his six grandchildren Michael Proulx, Megan Cayer, Robert Cayer Jr., Satonya McNeal, Chelsea Kiman all of Manchester and Stefanie Fredette and her husband Chris of Weare, his four great-grandchildren Emily Fredette, Jillian Fredette, Zackary Fredette and Amelia Wolczko all of Weare, his brother Donald Cayer and his wife Pat of Manchester and his three sisters Lorraine Wadleigh, Yvonne Coburn and Priscilla Martineau and her husband Ray all of Manchester as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
services: There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a committal service will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech Street in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Normand's name be made to the
