BERLIN -- Oscar J. "OJ" Carrier, 84, a lifelong resident of Grafton Street, died Nov. 21, 2010, at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born July 25, 1926, in Berlin, to Wilbrod and Maria (Bourgeault) Carrier. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Berlin.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Hesser College in Manchester, with an accounting degree.
He was employed as an accountant with Brown Company in Berlin and the successor companies Crown Vantage and James River Corp.
He was a communicant of Guardian Angel Parish now known as St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin.
He founded the Neighborhood horseshoe league and was instrumental in the formation of Berlin Youth Hockey Association. He was a member of the Berlin Eagles Club.
Family members include his wife of 60 years, Rita L. (Roberge) Carrier of Berlin; three sons, Donald Carrier of Manchester, Dennis Carrier of Berlin and Roger Carrier of Berlin; three daughters, Elaine Larrivee of Berlin, Theresa McCauley of Gorham and Lisa Poulin of Berlin; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Labonte of Berlin and Jeanne Hermsdorf of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. The Rev. Mark E. Dollard will officiate. Interment will be at St. Anne Cemetery in Berlin.
