Philip E. Anderson

DOVER -- Philip E. Anderson, 76, formerly of Hampton Falls, died July 16, 2010, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

He was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Portsmouth, to Oscar P. and Ethel N. (Proctor) Anderson.

He was a lifelong member of the Hope Christian Fellowship (Portsmouth Advent Christian Church).

He was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He retired after more than 30 years with the United States Patent Office in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of Plastics Engineers and the New Hampshire Wind Symphony, where he played trombone. He was also passionate about his writing projects.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Pope, of Silver Lake and Oldsmar, Fla.; a brother, Elton Anderson, of Milbridge, Maine; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

IN HIS LIFE: In November of 2009, Philip moved to Maple Suites Retirement Community in Dover. There, he gained a whole new community of friends and fellowship. He especially appreciated Managers John and Joanna Byerly, who blessed him with much love and friendship in this season of his life.

SERVICES: A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at Harmony Grove Cemetery, South Street, Portsmouth.
