HOOKSETT - Phillip P. Fawaz Jr., 68, of Hooksett, died Jan. 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
Born in Delray, Fla., on July 19, 1944, he was the son of Phillip P. and Mary A. (Simmons) Fawaz Sr. He resided in Manchester before moving to Hooksett 40 years ago.
He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School, Class of 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from New Hampshire College.
During the Vietnam War
, he served with the U.S. Army
He was employed in the banking industry at Indian Head Bank. Later, he was a vice-president at Manchester Federal Savings and Loan. Until his retirement in 2011, he was a real estate appraiser with Rels Valuation-Wells Fargo, for many years.
Active in youth sports, Mr. Fawaz coached Little League baseball and served as a basketball referee.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and a communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church.
Family members include his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann (Stanton) Fawaz of Hooksett; two sons, Christopher P. Fawaz and his wife, Shannon, of Hooksett, and Todd M. Fawaz and his wife, Anna, of North Andover, Mass.; his daughter, Tara Ann Fawaz of South Boston; four grandchildren, Alexander, Jordan, Tyler and Logan; his sister, Martha Zyla and her husband, Paul, of Laconia; three brothers-in law, Robert Stanton, John Stanton and James Stanton; several nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester.
The funeral will be held Friday followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Webster Street, Manchester. Burial will take place in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
