Richard L. Sharkey

PEPPERELL, Mass. - Richard L. Sharkey, 69, passed away with dignity and surrounded by family at his home in Pepperell, on May 19, 2014.Richard was born Feb. 1, 1945, in Medford, the son of James R. and Norma W. Sharkey. He graduated from Medford High School, Carnegie Tech, and the University of Cincinnati. In 1976, Richard moved to Amherst, N.H., and devoted his career to Hitchiner Manufacturing, where he traveled the world, becoming vice-president of Mexico operations. In 1992 he married Rosa Maria Salgado and moved to the "Farm" in Wilton, N.H. After Rosa passed and he retired, Richard volunteered for the Greater Nashua Mental Health Center, the Wilton Main Street Association and SCORE. During his final years, Richard built his life around his loving partner, Sherrill Rosoff. He will be remembered as being loving, generous and kind, with a strong passion for life.Richard is survived by his significant other, Sherrill Rosoff of Pepperell; daughter, Erin (Michael) Carter of Milford, N.H.; son, Patrick (KerriAnn Coronato) Sharkey of Portsmouth, N.H.; first wife and mother to his children, Kathleen Sharkey of Milford, N.H.; four loving grandchildren, Keegan, Catriona, Ian and Hadley; sister-in-law, JoAnn Sharkey; nephew, James R. Sharkey III; niece, Julaine (Kelso) Davis; and grand nephews, Rhett and Jack.Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosa Maria Sharkey; brother, James R. Sharkey Jr.; and son, Richard J. "Arjay" Sharkey.


SERVICES: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Michaud Funeral Home, Wilton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Sacred Heart Parish in Wilton, with graveside burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
