Robert E. Day

Allenstown - Robert E. Day, 62, of Allenstown, beloved life partner of Lynn Turnbull, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Elliot Hospital, Manchester, surrounded by his family.

Born in Fitchburg, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Mary (Stevenson) Day. Raised and educated in Fitchburg, Mass., he was employed at Digital Equipment Corporation as an engineer for more than 25 years.

A member of the United States Air Force, Robert proudly served his country during the Vietnam War at the Loring Air Force Base as a missile system's analyst.

A dedicated father, Robert was the pillar of strength and direction for his family. He was a model of integrity, honesty and patience for his children; he had a reputation as a "jack of all trades, master of none." A generous spirit, Robert was always lending a helping hand to those in need and would offer the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He was a wonderful man with a dry sense of humor that brought laughter to all those around him. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed playing pool with his family and friends, especially his friends at the Deerhead Men's Club in Hooksett where he was a longtime member. He will be best remembered for his selflessness and kindness. A devoted partner, father, brother, uncle and friend, Robert will be deeply missed.

In addition to Lynn and her two sons, James and Thomas, Robert is survived by his two daughters, Angela Day of Allenstown and Whitney Day of Manchester; his nephew, Marcus Day and family; his brother, William Day of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and his fiancé, Kathleen; his two sisters, Dorothy Richards and her husband, William, of Florida and Barbara Walker and her husband, John, of Massachusetts; his two loving kitties, Bijou and Susie Q; and extended family and friends.
