BEDFORD - Sophie M. Gunn, 95, of Bedford passed away Friday evening, May 9, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Villa Crest Healthcare Center in Manchester.She was born and raised in Hillsborough, the daughter of William and Katie Bondar. Sophie enjoyed small town life and was a graduate of Hillsborough High School where she had played on the girls' basketball team. Sophie wed her high school sweetheart, Eugene T. Gunn and they shared 61 years of marriage until his passing in January 2003.Sophie has lived in Bedford since 1954 where she raised her family and had been employed for a time as an LPN at the Laurel Center. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church. She was a member of the Manchester Women's Club and was known as an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas wither husband and later to Foxwoods. Her family noted that she was famous for her apple pies, made fresh every Sunday.Her family extends a grateful thank you to the staff of Villa Crest Center and a special thanks to Bob and Kathy Vachon as special friends.Family members include her three sons, William Gunn and his wife Rena of Denver, Colo., Glenn Gunn and his wife Patricia of Manchester and Michael Gunn and his wife Donna of Lakewood, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jennah, Katie, Peter, Kristi, Justin and Charissa; great grandchildren, Jack, Emma and Brayden; her niece Vickie Mandell and her son Bradley. In addition to her husband, Sophie was pre deceased by a brother Victor Bondar.
