EPSOM - Thomas Kukla, 79, of Epsom passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
Thomas was born in Manchester on Sept. 14, 1933, the son of the late John and Mary (Janas) Kukla. He was raised in Manchester and graduated from Manchester Central High School. After graduation, Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps
where he proudly served his country for more than three years. Thomas' military service included an extended tour of duty in Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Thomas married Constance Fay on Aug. 21, 1954.
Thomas enjoyed spending time outdoors waterskiing, fishing and watching his sons' sporting events. He also loved going to the beach and vacationed in Aruba with his wife every year. Thomas was a loving and supportive husband and father who possessed a deep sense of family and an old-school work ethic. He also took great pride in his home and spent countless hours tending to the lawns and his flower and vegetable gardens.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 58 years, Connie Kukla, daughter Pamela Reed and her husband, James, son David John and his wife, Heidi, son Tom and his wife, Julie, daughter Laura Hutchison and her husband, Mark, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Casmir Kukla and his sister, Heddy Boire.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff in the ICU at Elliot hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
SERVICES: An hour of gathering will be Wednesday, April 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. in Manchester, followed immediately by a memorial service in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at the NH State Veteran Cemetery during a private service. In lieu of flowers donations in Thomas' memory may be made to
