Manchester - Wilfred "Pete" Hector Hebert, 93, of Manchester passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital after a period of failing health.He was born in Manchester on May 20, 1920, the son of the late Gedeon and Florida (Derome) Hebert.Pete proudly served his country in the 8th Air Force stationed in England as a radio operator and aerial gunner during World War II
. During that time, he was the honorable recipient of the bronze star
, an air medal with three leaf oak clusters, a distinguished flying cross and he also received a presidential citation given to the 94th bomb group that was stationed in England.Pete attended St. Anthony grammar school and Manchester Central High School. He is retired from the U.S. Postal Service.Members of the family include his loving wife of 69 years, Lucille (Senneville) Hebert, and a daughter, Irene Hebert of Asheville, N.C. He is also survived by two nieces, Shea Morgan and Carol Landry, and two nephews, Maurice LaDuke Jr. and Robert Martin.He is predeceased by two sisters Pauline LaDuke and Georgette Martin.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Cain & Janosz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 74 Brook St., corner of Pine Street Manchester. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 2,1 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cathedral, Manchester.
