MANCHESTER - Wilfred Laurent Simard, 80, a lifelong resident of New Hampshire, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at his home in Manchester.
Wilfred was born in Nashua on April 12, 1933, a son of the late Joseph and Alexzina (Gagnon) Simard. He was the 12th child of 13. Wilfred was the widower of Patricia Joyce (Blow) Simard, whom he married on Jan. 3, 1959.
Wilfred proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy
during the Korean War
from July 8, 1952, until June 26, 1956, and then spent many years in the reserves. After the service, he spent 20-plus years working at Nashua Corporation before retiring. Wilfred enjoyed collecting coins.
Wilfred is survived by three daughters, Wanda Giguere of Nashua, Donna Wood and her husband, David, of Manchester, Patricia Villegas of Nashua; six grandchildren, Amanda Jarvis of Manchester, Brianna Tremblay of Merrimack, Joshua Simard of Nashua, Scott Wood of Utah, Tim Wood of Manchester, Ed Wood of Manchester; one great-grandchild, Michael Olmstead of Manchester; two brothers, Richard Simard and Conrad Simard, both of Nashua; one sister, Rita Simard of Nashua; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Bleau, Cantino, Maynard, Rea and Simard families.
services: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 7, in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
