MANCHESTER - Zofia Bak, 91, of Manchester, died April 12, 2013, at Mount Carmel Healthcare Center in Manchester.
Mrs. Bak was born July 15, 1921, in Iwla, Poland, the daughter of Jan and Ewa (Pysznik) Stanosz. She attended schools there and came to this country in 1978.
She worked for a time at BB Shoe, RCL Electronics and Golomb's Market.
She loved her family and had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, houseplants and flowers.
Her husband, Stanislaw Bak, died in 1973. She was also predeceased by a son, Wladystaw (Walter) Bak in 1998.
She was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church.
Members of her family include two daughters, Maria Ptak and her husband Chester of Manchester, Eva Bak and her husband David Riese of Windham; five grandchildren, Joe, Teresa, Dorota, Maddie, Jacob, and several nieces and nephews in Poland.
services: Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech Street.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, Corner of Beech and Orange streets. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Zofia's name to either Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, 03104, or Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, 235 Myrtle St., Manchester, 03104.
