NASHUA -- Adrien A. Labrie, Sr., 85, died July 28, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Manchester Oct. 28, 1924, to Joseph and Anna (Bilodeau) Labrie.
He attended local schools as well as St. Francis College in Biddeford, Maine.
He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947, he married his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Nantel, sharing 63 years of marriage. He started his career as a general contractor, building many churches, schools and commercial buildings. In the mid-1960s, he introduced the first indoor ice-skating rink to Nashua. For more than 40 years, he enjoyed summers on Lake Winnipesauke in Moultonborough.
In addition to his wife, family members include 11 daughters, Jacqueline Buchan of Lyndeborough, Gisele Forcier of Hernando, Fla., Denise Desrosiers of Hollis, Gloria Winn of Deerfield, Celeste Schmitt of Nottingham, Lydia Belanger of Nashua, Anna Nickles of Hudson, Patricia Labrie of Nashua, Marie Theresa Leonard of Litchfield, Angela Bush of Stoddard and Laura Labrie Soule of Litchfield; two sons, Adrien Labrie Jr. of Moultonborough and Norman Labrie of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; 33 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Bernadette Dumas of Nashua; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Winn.
SERVICES: There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII at Infant Jesus Church, 121 Allds St., Nashua. Burial will take place in the N.H. Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Souhegan Home Health & Hospice, 24 N. River Road, Milford 03055.
