DERRY - Betty Jean Foster, 87, of Derry, formerly of Lynn, Mass., died at home Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, after a period of declining health, surrounded by her family.

She married the love of her life, the late Darrell Foster, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Haverhill, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Wesley C. and Sally (Peck) Wilson. She attended schools in Haverhill and Lynn, Mass., graduating from Lynn English High School, Class of 1943. She was employed in the Jewelry Department at Burroughs and Sanborn and MelEd's Jewelry in Lynn, Mass.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and traveling with her husband. She had a great appreciation and love of nature. She loved and cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and above all she was a wonderful mother.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda and her husband, Wayne Merrill, of Derry; four grandchildren, Lauren Hudson of Greenland, Alison Marshall of Boston, Ryan Chaffee of Londonderry, Stephanie Glassman of Dartmouth, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Lylah and Colin Chaffee, Jenna and Sadie Hudson; and several nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Steven Foster..
Services: Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., Lynn, Mass. Betty's funeral will be held at thefuneral home on Friday at 10 a.m. to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
