MANCHESTER - Blanche A. Wurtele, 94, died Dec. 28, 2012, at Bedford Hills after a brief illness.

She was born in Manchester on Nov. 17, 1918, the daughter of Napoleon and Yvonne (Clermont) Therrien and had been a lifelong resident of this city. She was raised by Leah Marchand.
She was a volunteer at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home for 23 years, she loved music and was a member of the choir at St. George and St. Anthony churches, she was also a member of the Hooksetites. For many years she organized a walking group around Lake Massabesic and set up dart games at Derryfield Country Club. She and her husband owned Manchester Coal & Oil Co.
Members of her family include two sons, Robert Wurtele and his companion Rita Moore, of Manchester, Richard Wurtele and his wife Jeanne of Hooksett; two daughters, Claire Coderre and her husband Gus, of Manchester, Janice Wurtele of Concord; eight grandchildren, Debbie, Karen, Kristine, Kimberley, Lee, Justy, Stephanie, Abi; 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Edgar C. Wurtele on Jan. 26, 2012; and a daughter, June Day, wife of Byron Day of Auburn, on Sept. 18, 2007.
services: Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church. Committal prayers will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
