WOLFEBORO - Carol Louise Tarmey, 87, formerly of Pittsburg and Barrington, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Wolfeboro Bay Care and Rehab Center.
Carol was born in Concord, on March 3, 1925, the daughter of Curtis and Doris Brassaw. She married the love of her life, John Tarmey Sr. on Feb. 12, 1945, while he was serving his country during World War II. This began their commitment of almost seven decades to a dedication of marriage and a never-ending devotion to their family. She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother and nana. Together they raised seven children residing in Farmington, Barrington and later spending their retirement years in Pittsburg and Sylvania, Ga.
In addition to her husband, John of Alton Bay, she is survived by seven children; Sharyn Vien of Dover; Barbara Ryder and Lawrence Jr. of North Troy, Vt.; Darrell Tarmey and Donna of Farmington; Darlene Starr and Howard of Newport Center, Vt.; Patrick Tarmey and Donna of Milford, Mass.; Pat Frost Labelle and Norman of Alton Bay and John (Beany) Tarmey and Dawn of Galivants Ferry, S.C. She is also "Nana" to 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren including three sets of five generations. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Morgan of Newport and Eleanor Dow of Orange, Mass.; several nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and many friends, who always enjoyed her company and her wonderful sense of humor.
SERVICES: A memorial service followed by a reception and refreshments will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 63 South Main St., Rochester.
