BURLINGTON, Vt. - Charlotte Knoepfel, 92, of Burlington, died peacefully in her home on May 28, 2012.

She was born in Queens, N.Y., in 1920, daughter of Charlotte and Paul Hertel, and was the widow of Walter Knoepfel of Manchester, N.H.
Charlotte lived in Manchester, N.H., for almost 50 years before moving to Burlington to be closer to her daughter. She was a longtime volunteer with the Elliot Hospital Associates. She was an avid reader and a friend of the Manchester City Library, and she was a serious duplicate bridge player and member of the ACBL. Charlotte loved animals and was a supporter of The Animal Rescue League of N.H. and the ASPCA.
Charlotte's family includes a son, Walter and wife, Murni of San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Vicki and husband, John Cane, of Burlington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a sister, Elvine Klement and niece, Carole Huxel and her husband, Kurt of Goffstown, N.H.
