MANCHESTER - Chester F. "Chet" Swiesz, 65, of Manchester, died July 15, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on April 11, 1948, he was the son of Chester J. and Mary (Bulis) Swiesz.

Chet was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, Class of 1966. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in education from Plymouth State College in 1970.

Early in his career, he taught at Merrimack Junior High School. Afterward, he was an insurance agent with Met-Life for 20 years. Until his recent retirement, he was a social studies teacher at the Middle School at Parkside for 12 years.

Actively involved in youth sports, Chet officiated at junior high soccer and basketball games for many years. In addition, he was engaged with American Legion baseball and Pop Warner football. He was an avid New England sports fan who especially enjoyed the New England Patriots.

He held membership in the NH Football Association, NH Baseball Association as well as the NH Softball Association.

Family members include his wife of 44 years, Brenda J. (Van Den Bergh) Swiesz; his son, Dr. Matthew C. Swiesz and his wife, Dr. Whitney Swiesz, of Durham; his daughter, Marti L. Wood and her husband, Gregory, of Pembroke; grandchildren, Alden, Nathan, Keane, Carly, and Nolan; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.


SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH. The funeral will be held Friday with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 1 PM in Saint Raphael Church, Manchester, NH.

Burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
