BEDFORD - Donald R.J. Arsenault, 80, of Bedford, and formerly of Nashua, died May 20, 2012, at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester.

He was born in Berlin on Oct. 7, 1931, a son of the late Edward and Marie (Marier) Arsenault.

Mr. Arsenault was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 79 in Manchester, the VFW Post 483 of Nashua, the Elks Post 720 of Nashua, the Lafayette Club in Nashua and the LST Association. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, gardening and last but most importantly, family time.

He was a resident of Bedford for the past 20 years and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford.

Before retirement, he was employed with New England Telephone for over 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Roger, and a sister, Ida Doucette.

Members of his family include his wife of 53 years, Mona Y. (Turmel) Arsenault, of Bedford; two sons and a daughter in-law, Mark and Kathy Arsenault, of Merrimack, and Alan Arsenault of Nashua; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Vivian and Donald Pinette of Merrimack, and Janice and Kevin Wells of Tewksbury, Mass.; six grandchildren, Shannon and her husband, Travis Saari, Keith and Corey Pinette, Shane Arsenault, Alesha and Ryan Pinet; one step-grandson, William Williamson; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Adrianna Saari; a brother, Rene Arsenault; four sisters, Rita Doucette, Irene Pelletier, Helen Stevens, and Lillian Scholtz, and several nieces and nephews.


services:Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, Wednesday, May 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral will be from the funeral home Thursday at 8 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, at 10 a.m.

Following cremation, interment will be in the N.H. Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on June 11, at 1:30 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the VA Medical Center-Manchester, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, 03104.
