MANCHESTER - Dorothy A. (Dacey) Carty, passed away suddenly on April 19, 2013, at her home in Manchester, at the age of 75.

Mrs. Carty was born on July 1, 1937, in Boston, the daughter of the late Daniel and Clare (Feeley) Dacey. She was a resident of Manchester for more than 40 years.

She was employed in technical publications at Raytheon in Nashua for many years and later worked as an administrative assistant in the law offices of Wiggin and Noire in Manchester.

Mrs. Carty enjoyed vacationing with her family at White Horse Beach on Cape Cod when the children were young. She was an enthusiastic reader, loved listening to music of all types and in retirement, she enjoyed puzzles, relaxing poolside and spending time with family and friends.

For more than 25 years, she touched many lives through the meetings and support groups she attended. She was a friend, guiding light and inspiration to many. She also served as a volunteer and eucharistic minister at Catholic Medical Center and had been a member of the St. Francis Ladies Guild.

Members of her family include her husband of 55 years, Donald Carty of Manchester; four sons, Donald Carty Jr. of Manchester, Richard "Rich" Carty of Litchfield, Lawrence "Larry" Carty of Manchester and James "Jim" Carty of Litchfield; two daughters, Margaret "Peg" Thornby of Manchester and Elizabeth "Beth" King, also of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Dacey of Templeton, Mass.; two sisters, Clare Farrell of Randolph, Mass., and Patricia Donovan of Carver, Mass.; nieces and nephews.


services: Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield. Committal prayers and interment will follow at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Donations may be made to The , in memory of Mrs. Carty.
