OSSIPEE -- Eleanor "Ellie" L. Iverson Brown, 87, died Oct. 27, 2008, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
She was the daughter of Mary and Leroy Birkbeck.
During the last two decades, she and her husband, Donald K. Brown, owned and operated One More Time book shop on Route 16 in West Ossipee, where folks from all over stopped in, to not only buy books but exchange stories and strike up lasting friendships.
In addition to her love of books, gardening, music and cribbage, she spent several years as a member of the Grange, with her husband.
She also spent many hours in great fun playing cards with her circle of lady-friends.
Her recitations of poetry and prose, learned at a very early age and memorized faithfully, delighted many.
Her jokes were often told in dialect.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry J. Iverson, of Anchorage Alaska, and her second husband, Donald K. Brown.
Family includes son C.J. "Chip" Iverson of Chocorua; daughters Maryanne Canfield of Chocorua and Laurel Ekberg of North Conway; five grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister Sally Ford-Follansbee of Deer Isle, Maine; nieces and nephews.
