MANCHESTER - Estelle C. Laverdiere, 83, of Manchester died Jan. 12, 2013, at the Catholic Medical Center after a period of declining health.

She was born in Chicopee, Mass., on Feb. 21, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Rita (Laroque) Ricard. She was educated in the Chicopee school system and had graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, Mass.
Estelle had worked as a receptionist at St. Marie Church Rectory for many years prior to her retirement. She had also been employed by E&R Laundry and had worked as a day care provider for St. Peter's Orphanage.
She was a longtime choir member at St. Marie Church and a member of the parish's Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She was an officer of the Women's Auxiliary at the Alpine Club, had spent time volunteering at the Catholic Medical Center, and enjoyed bowling, dancing, camping, and traveling in the family RV.
She was predeceased by her husband, Armand J. Laverdiere, in 1998.
Family members include her son, Leo A. Laverdiere of Franklin; her grandson and caregiver for the past 10 years, Randy Laverdiere of Amherst; two great-granddaughters, Desiree and Destiny Laverdiere of Amherst; four sisters, Cecile Janusz of Chicopee, Mass., Jeannine Patrick of North Hampton, Mass., Lorraine Patrick, Chicopee, Mass., and Anita Bean of Townshend, Vt.; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
services: Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester, will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., in St. Marie Church, Notre Dame Ave., at a time to be announced. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date.
