TAMWORTH -- Herbert Arthur Emmons, 79, of Durrell Road, died Sept. 21, 2008, at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro.
He was born in Hinesberg, Vt., Jan. 25, 1929, to Charles Clinton and Caroline Belle (Benedict) Emmons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Prior to moving to Tamworth in 1986 he lived in Nashua and worked in Manchester as a foreman of a fencing company. While living in Tamworth he worked for Chick's Lumber, The Whittier House Restaraunt and Cheques Villa.
He was a quiet man who enjoyed woodworking and working around his house. He will be remembered as a caring person who loved people and was a good father to his son.
Family members include his wife, Earline (McKechnie) Emmons of Tamworth; a son, Robert Emmons of Seabring, Texas; six stepsons, Louis Robert Ferguson of Arkansas, Earl Ferguson, Norman Oak, and Clifford Hibbard, all of Hudson, Michael Oak of Dallas, Ga.. and Rex Ferguson; four stepdaughters, Pamela Signoritti and Linda Ruchelow, both of Nashua, Pandora "Penney" Clough of Greenfield, and Christine Michaud of Merrimack; a sister, Mary Sears of Rutland, Vt.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: A calling hour will be Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2395 Route 16, West Ossipee, followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with military honors.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
