MANCHESTER - Jean E. Van Stelten, 96, loving and caring daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, passed on Jan. 13, 2013, with family by her side.

Mrs. Van Stelten was born Oct. 5, 1916 in Manchester, a daughter of Thomas and Isabella (Dey) Smith and had been a lifelong resident of this community. She was a 1935 graduate of Manchester Central High School.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Van Stelten was a store manager with Pandora Factory Outlet Store. Mrs. Van Stelten was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, worthy scribe of White Shrine of Jerusalem and past chief daughter of Daughters of Scotia.

She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Van Stelten.

Family includes one son, John T. Van Stelten and his wife, Linda, of New Hampton; one daughter, Jean Van Stelten of Manchester; three granddaughters, Jana, Jena and Johna and her husband, Alex; and three great-grandchildren, Aedan, Ezra and Isabelle.

Family wishes to thank Hillsborough County Health Care Center staff as well as Home Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack for the tender, loving care provided to their mother.


services: Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine St., corner of Harrison Street, Manchester. Ritualistic services will be offered by the Order of Eastern Star at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Graveside Service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
