LONDONDERRY - John F. Carmody Jr. passed away on June 12, 2012, at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Farley) Carmody, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

John was born in Lowell, Mass., a son of the late Elizabeth (Sullivan) and John F. Carmody Sr. He received his primary education in the Lowell school system. A graduate of Keith Academy and Coyne Electrical, John was an electrical engineer registered in the states of Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine. He retired from General Dynamics.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his three children, Deborah Kostas and her husband, James of Bedford, Mass., Karen Carmody of Boston and Shawn Carmody and his wife, Justine of Pelham. He also had five grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia, Jarred and Aidan Kostas and Jack Carmody. He also leaves a sister, Carol Ann McMahon, a sister, Margaret and her husband, David, a brother Kevin and his wife, Catherine and several nieces and nephews.
services: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, Mass., on Friday, from 3 to 8 p.m.
His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Saturday, at 9 a.m., with his funeral mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in Lowell, Mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford.
