WILTON - John G. Hussey, 50, of Wilton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, from complications of ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was under hospice care at home with his family by his side.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born in Albany, N.Y., on Sept. 4, 1962, son of Catherine (Nolan) Hussey and the late Robert E. Hussey.
John attended Nashua High and graduated in 1981. He received his associate degree in business management from Southern New Hampshire University and his bachelor's degree in business management from Golden Gate University in California.
During John's lifetime, he only had three jobs; his first being at Martha's Sweet Shoppe, his second at Lochhead Millwork and his third at Hewlett-Packard Company. Each job provided him with valuable life lessons and wonderful friends. John remained at Hewlett-Packard for 23 years until leaving June 30, 2011, due to ALS. He was lucky enough to work for numerous people who provided great opportunities, including extensive travel to Latin America. In 1993, John moved to the Sacramento Valley area of California at the request of HP, where he remained for eight years until returning to New Hampshire. John and his family made many lifelong friends in California.
In 1988, John married his beloved wife, Michelle A. Devitt. While in California, the two had their wonderful children, Brendan Robert Hussey and Shannon Norma Hussey. John was a devoted husband, father, son and brother.
Upon settling down in Wilton, he coached Little League baseball for five years and attended many of his daughter's softball and soccer games. John loved the outdoors, including rock climbing, hiking, telemark skiing and landscaping his property, as well as dining with family and friends. In addition, John was a devoted New England sports fan, especially devoted to the Red Sox. Like his father, John was very proud of his Irish-Catholic heritage.
John is survived by Michelle A. Hussey, his wife of 25 years; his two children, Brendan R. Hussey, 17, and Shannon N. Hussey, 12, of Wilton; his mother, Catherine Hussey of Nashua; and his four siblings and their spouses, Theresa and Bill McLaren of Pittsburgh, Timothy and Melissa Hussey of Weatague, Conn., Daniel and Angela Hussey of San Diego and Annamae and Mathew Logan of Westport, Conn.
John leaves behind five nieces and six nephews, Jennifer Patryn, Jessica Ehrgott, Ryan Ehrgott, Andrew Devitt, Katie Devitt, Myles McLaren, Cameron McLaren, Mae Logan, Abby Logan, Owen McLaren and Nolan Hussey. John also leaves behind his devoted Irish Wolfhound, Finn.
John is predeceased by his father, Robert E. Hussey, and brother Sean Michael Hussey.
