NEW LONDON -- John P. Walsh, 94, of Hilltop Place, died Dec. 10, 2009 at The Clough Center. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., August 25, 1915, to Edward J. and Mary (Ball) Walsh.
He began as a teacher of industrial arts. He was president of Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minn., and worked for the U.S. Department of Labor as director of manpower and was director of technical education for the state of New Hampshire.
He moved to New London in 1978. He was was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in New London. He was very interested in woodworking and had a workshop in his home. He was also an avid Ham Radio operator.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Kick) Walsh.
SERVICES: A Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Fatima, 724 Main Street, New London. Burial will be in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London, in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Dunwoody College of Technology, 88 Dunwoody Blvd., Minneapolis, MN 55403. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, is assisting the family with arrangements.
