ALLENSTOWN - Joseph Edward Breslin Jr., 64, died on Dec. 15, 2012, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a massive stroke.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1948, in Concord, the son of Joseph E. Breslin, Sr., and Bertha (Sanborn) Breslin. He grew up in Manchester and was educated in the Manchester school system. In 1971, he married Sally Roberge and moved to Allenstown, where he resided until his death.

He served with the National Guard 197th Field Artillery Battery-A, Searchlight Company, from 1965 to 1971. He worked as a quality control specialist for J.C. Pitman & Sons in Concord for several years, then was employed for 33 years by the U.S. Postal Service in Manchester, where he was the manager of the vehicle maintenance facility until his retirement in 2006.

His hobbies included model railroading, collecting non-sport trading cards and buffalo and bison items. He became well known as the subject of many humorous stories in his wife's weekly newspaper column, My Life, which is published by Neighborhood News, Inc., a division of the New Hampshire Union Leader. He was predeceased by his parents.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a sister, Tammy (Breslin) Shackford of Hooksett; a brother, Danny Sanborn of Manchester; a niece, Julie (Shackford) Bell, of West Point, N.Y.; a nephew, Brian Shackford of Manchester, and aunts, uncles and cousins.


SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the NHSPCA SOS Fund, PO Box 196, Stratham 03885.
