MANCHESTER - Kenneth R. Bond, 69, of Manchester, died Sept. 19, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on June 20, 1943, in Manchester, the son of Sherman and Gladys (Johnson) Bond and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was educated in the Manchester school system and attended Central High School.
He was a longtime employee of the Manchester Highway Department and Pine Grove Cemetery. He was also employed at the Alcumet Company and at the Seabrook nuclear power plant.
Ken loved sports, especially baseball and basketball and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Celtics. As a teen he received an invitation for a tryout with the Red Sox.
Members of his family include his two sons, Kenneth J. Bond of Manchester and Gregory Bond of Weare; his daughter, April Bond of Manchester; his three grandchildren, Joshua Bond, Tiffany Albert and Landon Bond; a great-grandson, Jaden Albert; his four brothers, Bernard Bond and his wife Elaine, of Weare, Leonard Bond and his wife Claire, of Indiana, Russell Bond and his wife Corinne, of Derry, and Thomas Bond of Massachusetts; his sister, Sandy Marchwicz and her husband John, of Manchester; his companion, Annie Smith, and his former wife, Linda Klardie, both of Manchester; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Marsha Bond, in 1990.
services:Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner Beech Street in Manchester. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 25 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.mchughfuneralhome.com.
