MANCHESTER - Lois L. McDonald, 83, a longtime resident of Manchester, died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2012.

Born in Everett, Wash., on June 4, 1929, she was the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Dixon) Potter.

Lois married Kenneth D. McDonald on Jan. 31, 1953, and would have soon celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a stay-at-home mom to her four children.

She was a volunteer at Easter Seals of New Hampshire, Manchester Mental Health, and at the many activities in which her children were involved. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, painting, sewing, and trivia. In her later years, she was fond of the company of animals, especially her beloved dachshunds, Seigfried and Gretchen.

Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.

Family members include her husband, Kenneth D. McDonald of Manchester; her mother, Ethel Tkacs of Goffstown; two sons, Kenneth McDonald and his wife, Claudette, of Severna Park, Md., and Keith McDonald and his wife, Marcia, of Manchester; two daughters, Karen McDonald, and Kyle McDonald and her husband, Robert Ouellette, all of Manchester; two granddaughters, Lauren and Katherine; her brother, Ronald Van Patten of Washington; several nieces and a nephew.


services: Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester.

The funeral will be held Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Manchester.

Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of N.H., 545 State Route 101, Bedford, 30110.
