CONCORD - Pauline "Polly" Conley, 91, of Concord, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.

She was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Lowell, Mass., the third of six children of C. Joseph and Corinne (Dube) Ouellette. She was raised in Concord and was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, class of 1938.

In 1940, she moved to Detroit at the invitation of her aunt and uncle. She attended Detroit Business University and was employed in a secretarial capacity until 1957. She married Fay "Fred" Conley on March 20, 1948. After the passing of her husband, she moved to Concord in 1984 to be closer to her sisters, Genevieve Plodzik (Brochu) and Marie Hanusik.

She was a member of the Secular Community of the Carmelites since 1986, and active member of Christ the King, St. John the Evangelist Parish, and a choir member since 1984. She was past regent of the Court Margaret Desmond 167, Catholic Daughters of America, serving from 1991 to 1993 and again from 1995 to 1997. In 1994, she, along with two other parishioners, started the Bereavement Committee at St. John Parish.

Polly is survived by one sister, Marie Hanusik of Cairo, N.Y., and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.


services:Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. the same day at Christ the King, St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.

Burial will be at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Nashville, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant St., Concord, 03301, or to the St. Vincent DePaul, St. John the Evangelist, 72 South Main St., Concord, 03301.
