Rochester - Rita G. Boulanger, 88, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2012, at Frisbee Memorial Hospital, with many family members by her side, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 15, 1924, in Manchester, to William and Lazarine (Michaud) Goulet. Did her schooling in Manchester, Somersworth and South Berwick, Maine. She was a longtime resident of Dover and Somersworth; she spent the last three years of her life with daughter Luci in Rochester.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, in March 2000; son Gerard in July 1969; son Robert in July 2010; daughter Irene Gloria in December 1955; and a grandson, Clint, in December 2003

Members of her family include sons Paul W. and wife Carmen of Snoqualmie, Wash., and Andre and wife Helen of Sanbornville; daughter Luci and husband Harold (Sam) Hill of Rochester; sons Roland of Seattle, Wash., George and wife Joanne of North Bend, Wash., Martin and partner Joyce of Woodenville, Wash., Albert and wife Kathy of North Bend, Wash., Bill and wife Katie of Somersworth; daughters Marie and husband Dan Sanfacon of Berwick, Maine, Janet and husband Rick Bouchard of Charlotte, N.C., Claire and husband Don Graham of Hampton and Irene Lisa Boulanger of Rochester. She also had 20 wonderful grandchildren and 12 adorable great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins throughout the United States and Canada

Rita was a communicant of (St. Martin) St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Somersworth.

She lit up the lives of all those around her with her boundless energy. She always enjoyed to take rides anywhere, loved the beach and enjoyed all the flowers around her. Her eyes would light up when you entered the room; everyone was always welcomed in her home.

She was a devoted wife and mother to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud that these were all hers. She was an amazing, wonderful woman who kept it all together. She will be forever in all our hearts and greatly missed.


services: Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.p.m. at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in St. Martin Church, Somersworth, with the Rev. Michael S. Taylor, pastor, as celebrant. Rita will be buried next to her beloved Ernest in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover.
