SOMERSWORTH - Romeo L. "Moe" Alonzi, 76, of Somersworth, died June 13, 2012, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a period of ill health.

He was born July 1, 1935, in Berlin, the son of Amedeo and Mamie (DiPucchio) Alonzi.

Romeo was the husband of Christina (Landers) Alonzi. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church. He retired as district manager from John Hancock Insurance Company.

His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was paramount in his life. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, he enjoyed playing cards, going fishing working in his garden and his woodworking shop. His winters were enjoyed in Beverly Hills, Fla.

Members of the family include his wife of 57 years, Christina; his sons, and their wives, Michael and Linda of Berwick, Brian and Michelle of Rochester, and David and MaryLou of Amesbury, Mass.; also his daughters, Sharon Alonzi of Somersworth and Gail and Dan Fontaine of Rochester. Romeo's siblings also survive him, Joseph of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Juliette Bugeau of Norwood, Mass., and Catherine Misener of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive Romeo, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashleigh Krystina Alonzi.

SERVICES: Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South St., Somersworth.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Holy Trinity Church, 404 High St., Somersworth, with the Rev. Michael S. Taylor, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Somersworth-Berwick Food Pantry or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Bernier Funeral Home (www.bernierfuneralhome.net).
