WINDHAM -- Ruth A. Griffin, 94, died April 29, 2010, at her home in Windham Terrace.
She was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Lynn, Mass., to Walter Scott and Marie Eliza (Warren) Maitland. She was raised in both Lynn and Swampscott, Mass.
She married Raymond F. Griffin March 23, 1940. In 1956, they moved to New Hampshire and settled in Amherst, living there until 1981. She then moved to Raymond, living there until December, 2008. She moved to Windham Terrace where she thoroughly enjoyed her assisted-living experience: the social life, her new friends, the activities and the staff.
She also cherished the summers she spent at the cottage the family built on a lake in Acton, Maine, summering there from 1953 through 2008.
IN HER LIFE: She is survived by three children, Roberta M. McLaughlin of Byron, Ill., Rae M. Hogan of Salem, and Richard "Charlie" Griffin of Wyoming; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two half-sisters, Sylvia Byer of Branford, Conn., and Barbara Putt of Shoemakersville, Pa. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ray Griffin; a son, Robert Griffin; and a brother, John Maitland.
SERVICES: Following cremation, the family will have a private burial in the Swampscott Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, 2 Wall St., Manchester 03101. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, is handling arrangements. To send a condolence or for more information, please visit www.peabodyfuneralhome.com.

Nanny, I'll forever remember you at the camp, sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and doing a crossword puzzle. You are missed.
