MANCHESTER - Theodore A. Theodore, 84, died Oct. 15, 2013, at the Elliot Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1929, in Manchester, the son of the late James and Barbara (Daie) Theodore. Theodore, know as Ted or Teddy, was raised and educated in Manchester.

Mr. Theodore was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned three Bronze Star medals and the United Nations Service medals during his time of service.

Ted was a retail store manager for JM Fields and Lords Department Stores during his career.

He was handy carpenter/builder with a basement full of tools. He was an avid tennis player for many years and more recently enjoyed playing golf.

Ted was a sports fan and had been an excellent athlete in school. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., taking multiple cruises and traveling abroad to places such as Egypt, Austria, Germany, and France even celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in Teddy's homeland of Greece.

Ted loved life, enjoyed socializing, had a wonderful sense of humor and a great appetite! He and his wife hosted an annual summer party for 18 years they called "The Old Gang Party," which began with the Snake Pit Group of people that grew up together in the Kalivas Park area in Manchester, also known as "the Kalivas Park Alumni." This gathering became well known enough to be honored with a written resolution from the city of Manchester for keeping the ethnic traditions alive, signed by the mayor.

Family members include his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Nye) Theodore of Manchester, son, James T. Theodore of Killington, Vt., daughter, Gayle Theodore of Manchester and several nieces and nephews and many long time dear friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Frank and Christopher Theodore and his sisters, Zoe Arapage and Helen Kaldaras.

SERVICES: His memorial gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with his memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 4 p.m. Donations in Theodore's memory can be made to Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, 03102.
