LOUDON -- Lester M. Annis, 79, died Dec. 28, 2010, at his home.
Lester, known to his family and friends as "Buster," was born in Chichester on Oct. 21, 1931, to Herman L. and Beatrice (Grady) Annis. He was a lifelong resident of Loudon and a long-standing member of American Legion Post No. 88.
He graduated from Concord High School in 1947 and entered the U.S. Navy in 1952. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to his home in Loudon, where he made his living farming.
He was recently honored by the Manchester VA Medical Center for his more than 25,000 hours of volunteer service there. He enjoyed going to work and thought of his co-workers there as family.
He liked to stay busy collecting cans for recycling and cutting wood for his family's wood stove. His kindness, generosity and loving spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
IN HIS LIFE: Family members include a sister, Frances Young, of Manchester; a great-uncle, John Grady, of Concord; a niece, Linda Hunton, of Loudon; nephews John Pease of Loudon, Robert Pease of Barnstead and Clayton Pease Jr. of Concord and their families.
SERVICES:There will be no calling hours. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Moore Cemetery in Loudon in the spring. The Rev. Henry M. Frost will officiate.
Bennett Funeral Home of Concord will be in charge of the arrangements.
